Sing Me Naked premiered at N.E.W. (Portland, Oregon) and Open Eye Figure Theatre (Minneapolis, MN) in Spring 2016. This piece aimed to unpack societal concepts surrounding nudity and celebrate queer and femme bodies of all types. Under the guise of Disobedient Femmes (founded by Lizz Windnagel & Emily Lau), the team devised this piece that incorporated theatre, dance, and virtuosic musical performance. The performers were completely naked for much of the piece, to challenge the audience’s possible pre-conceived ideas in which nudity is inherently sexual. Sing Me Naked was awarded “Best Performance Art” by Lavender Magazine’s Best of 2016 Awards.
